11 Creative Message Plaque
One of many possible
results shown below:
Hootytut© by Hooty aka Doyle Allen 7/22/04
Approved by the HootyTutTestersGroup!
Skill Level: Intermediate
Needed: Paint Shop Pro8,9 or even 7 if you know
your program well and can adapt.
READ FIRST:
1 This tutorial was written with a lot of
room for your own skill creativity to be
expressed in the variations of the steps.
2 If you do not have Paint Shop Pro8 then use Simple Filters
in the place of the Seamless Tiling.
3 If you are new and need settings to Effects then
click on the presets button at the top and try
one of those.
4 For the more experienced Creator I invite you
to take any creative avenues on any steps once
you are familiar with the basic concept!
Have fun and express yourself!
5 Note: With the right color and large text you can
resize your Header results for a TAG!
6 FMTile Tools: Click to go to download.
-==============--================
(Part 1) Making the Header or Tag
1 Open a new transparent image 375 x 400
2 You can make a background and use tubes
to make a substitute for a graphic if you
would like.
If you do that then when you are finished
Layers / Merge / Merge Visible and continue
with step (7 then 9)
OR
For the purposes of this tutorial I will
explain it using a graphic to keep it simpler.
Open a graphic and using the selection
tool with a rectangle shape select a section
about the same size as the transparent image.
3 Edit / Copy
4 Close your graphic
5 Selections / Select All
6 Edit / Paste / Paste into Selection
7 If you have FM Tile Tools then use
Blend Emboss here at default settings
if you want an embossed effect.
8 Selections / Select None
9 Edit / Copy
10 Image / Canvas Size
Width = 550, Height = 400
Lock aspect Ratio = Unchecked
In the Placement box click the arrow that
points to the left.
Your new transparent image addition will
be placed to the right.
11 (S) Selection Tool / Custom Selection
Settings:
Left = 375,
Top = 0
Bottom = 400
Right = 550…. OK
Note: An alternative to these next 4 steps
would be to just select a text friendly color
from your graphic and fill the selected area.
Hopefully a dominant color.
If you are braver and more skilled continue:
===============================
12 Edit / Paste / Paste into selection
13 Selections / Promote Selection to Layer
14 What we are going to try to do here is
to make an almost solid color background
that will be text friendly but will still match
the dominant color theme of your images
on the left..
Effects / Artistic Effects / Topography
Width = 50, Density = 50
Angle = 315, Color = White
15 Adjust / Blur / Gaussian Blur
Settings = 50
=============================
16 Edit / Copy
17 Edit / Paste / Paste as New Image
18 Rename this BG and Minimize it for now.
19 Effects / 3D Effects / Inner Bevel
Suggested Settings:
(These are my TubePuffing settings)
Bevel = #2, Width = 8, Smoothness = 0
Depth = 1, Ambience = 0, Shininess = 0
Color = White,
Angle = 315, Intensity = 50, Elevation = 30
20 Apply Inner Bevel a second time.
21 Effects / 3D Effects / Drop Shadow
Vertical = 0, Horizontal = (minus)- 5
Opacity = 40, Blur = 5, Color = Black
22 Apply an Eye Candy effect if you
would like here.. maybe a Matte Cutout
or Glass effect.
You might like to use Bevel Boss.
If you do not have EC you can simply
apply the Inner bevel that comes with
Paint Shop Pro.
23 Layers / Merge / Merge All
24 Selections / Invert
Apply the same EC effect that you just
did to the right, now to the left side.
Both side will then show the same effect.
================
25 Selections / Select None
26 Image / Add Borders = 10 symmetric checked.
Note: You can choose to add any border size and
creation that you would like here. I am keeping it
simple for purposes of this tutorial.
27 Magic Wand: Select your new border
28 (F) Fill your border with what you would like and
add such as Texture, bevel or EC Effect to it.
You decide. Just remember that text is about to be
written on it.
Note: Remember what you did. You may want
to duplicate the same thing when we make
the Side Bar so they will be a matching set!
29 Selections / Select None
30 (T) Add text to your text area on the right.
Use your own settings...just be sure that
Vector is checked and used.
Pull on the vector handles to make your text
fit the area.
31 You may choose to add the Inner Bevel
and a slight drop shadow or other effect to it.
You might like to use a cutout effect instead
if you know how to do that.
32 Add little tubes extras to adorn your message
area around the text.
Tip: It is always a good idea to put each tube on
a new raster layer so you can move them, resize
them , enhance them individually.
33 Layers / Merge / Merge All
Note: With the right color and large text you can
34 Add your watermark and save either at low
compression (20 as Jpg) or as a gif.
35 Close your header
(Part 2) The Background Tile
1 Restore up your (BG) narrow image that we
minimized earlier in this tut.
2 Effects / Artistic Effects / Topography
Same settings we used before.
Remember, you can be as creative as you
would like to be.. You may choose any effect
other than topography if your heart desires!
3 Effects / Image Effects / Seamless Tiling
Check and Use any tiling method
Bidirectional MUST be checked.
4 Save as your background tile.
(Part 3) Making your side bar
Using the same background tile
1 Image Resize = 90 x 450
Be sure Lock aspect ratio is unchecked.
Use the same as you used with your Background.
4 If you used an EC Effect on your Header you
can use the same on this so it will match.
If you just used an Inner Bevel then use that.
5 Layers / New Raster Layer
6 (i) Remember the tubes that you used to
dress your text area up with?..
Use one or more of them to add a little pizzazz
or special touch to your side bar.
Note: Sometimes I like to change the tube layer
mode to Luminance L so the overall color scheme
is the same.
7 Save as either your left or right Side bar,
Image / Mirror
Save as the other side bar for the opposite side
of your stationery.
=======================================
Remember to Watermark your creations!
